چکیده
High educated individuals are less frequently admitted to hospital for cardiovascular diseases and live longer than the lower educated. We address whether educational gradient in mortality rate can be explained by difference timing of CVD hospitalisation. account possible selective hospitalisation, using a correlated multistate hazard model (a 'Timing-of-events'- model) and, selection into education, inverse propensity weighting based on probability attain higher education. use Swedish Military Conscription Data (1951-1960), males only, linked administrative registers. Our empirical results indicate clear impact hospitalisation mortality. The implied gain number months lost is, however, mainly due other factors Extending analysis cause specific reveals that largest differences exist death external causes.
